Game #1

In the multicultural world of San Francisco there are even some enclaves of the mother country. Shauli and I found ourselves in one this morning - the Kezar Pub by Golden Gate Park. Here a few local Celts had gathered to watch first the Ireland-Wales match and then (if, like us, you didn't want to get up that early) England-Scotland.

Given it was the day of St Patrick celebrations in the city, there was a disappointingly small amount of Guinness being consumed. We were both, however, tempted into ordering the full Irish breakfasts (although I did unconsciously order it with coffee instead of tea. This country influences you in devious ways.)

The game was a good one, if not the prettiest. My old school teacher is now the Scotland coach (it's true!) so it's always fun to watch him stamping around and swearing. Takes me back. Honours finished even. If only the same had been true for the Welsh game...

Shauli attends to the most important details first.

All eyes on the match, and away from the Bailey's coffee.

Hey, watching makes you almost as hungry as playing!
