Hostel takeover

Walking along Waikiki Beach, who should we bump into but Christine and Tere? They're staying at the Hale Koa - a special resort for military people, current and retired. Raimundo appeared from the sea with baby Teresita and moments later we were sat around the pool enoying Mai Tais as the rest of the Haas crowd gathered. Pleasantly refreshed we returned to our hostel to check in (and take a quick nap) before the evening's events began.

This started with shrimp night at Vince and Christine's hotel - 10c per shrimp! More of an activity than a meal, as Vince described it, and I couldn't help but agree as I fiddled about pulling legs and shells off the little pink critters and generally using more energy to eat them than I was gaining.

After that we wandered back to the hostel for a pizza/going away/birthday party. Two people who have been staying here for over a month are off tomorrow, and we were promised lots of tears at their departure. "So you're leaving?" I asked one of them. "Well..." he mused drunkenly "I might stay a little longer. I'm kind of used to it." Perhaps the party was meant to give them a hint...

In the holiday spirit.

Haas-style takeover.

More interesting than a Peruvian pipe band.

Back at the hostel for Phillip's birthday party. We declined the invitation to join them for gay bar karaoke night.
