Last night I drove away from civilisation (i.e. the campsite) and into the darkness, pulling off the road to look at the incredible sky and try to take some photos. Eventually the farmer, whose track it turned out I was on, came to ask me what I was doing. Anyway, if you switch off all the lights in your room and draw the curtains then some of these have come out ok...
Here's a long exposure of the stars revolving around Polaris (because the earth is actually flat etc.)
That smudge at the bottom is the Milky Way!
