We awoke to another blanket of snow. "Right!" I said. "Everyone in the car - we're driving to Florida." Slightly more planning may have been involved, but we are currently making our way down Interstate 95 towards the Sunshine State.
My ideal holiday has always been the road trip - we're in America, what else? - so I've been loving the weird and wonderful that we've been passing: Peach World; a convoy of RVs from Quebec; hundreds of Harley-Davidsons on their way to Daytona Bike Week; a billboard advertising both America's largest gun shop and "Actors, Models and Talent for Christ", the country's leading Christian talent agency.
Hannah's ideal holiday has always been sitting by a pool in the sun - we're on holiday, what else? - so this combination of driving to a place where we can then sit is going to work very well. Or it might, depending on the super-hyped three-year-old in the back, a new innovation since our last road trip. His constant asking "are we on holiday yet?" suggests he might take after his mother more than me. Still, only another 13 hours on the road to go!
In Maryland.
Meanwhile, in Georgia (those are fried green tomatoes!)
