413.2 miles

Big Hannah is off in New York on a conference so I decided to show little Hannah California.  Yes, all of it!  We're doing a massive road trip, in an attempt to recapture my adventurous youth (although recapture suggests it was there in the first place, which it wasn't).

Today was the Pacific Coast, all the way down its highway to LA.  We started with fuel, for the car and us, at Psycho Donuts in San Jose - a "Cinnamon Troll", a "Feng Shui", and an "OFGCC" (the "Dead Elvis" - cream filled, bananas, bacon, peanut butter and jelly - will have to wait for the next trip).

Then it was us winding down the coast, stopping for ocean views and to see some elephant seals, buying pea soup, watching the sun set in Ventura, and staying there to eat vegan (my Goddaughter is a good influence on me) at Mary's Secret Garden.  We were going to visit the Getty Villa tomorrow, but we think we might skip the high culture and descend straight into the centre of everything: Hollywood!

Ready to go at mile zero.

The difficult donut-picking decision.

The cinnamon donut dwarfs the Pacific.

Elephant seals relax (perhaps they had a big breakfast too).

At Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant.

There's a pea soup eating champion!  He managed 16 bowls, and left 12 pounds heavier than when he walked in.  Respect.

Ocean sunset.

A pistachio mint raw smoothie.  Check out Mr Healthy!  That's my five-a-day all in one glass.
