Alco-traz

After a quiet day on Thursday it was back into full-tourist mode for Becs today, with a trip around Alcatraz (with Hannah, who hasn't visited in the whole time we've been here), Pier 39, Ghirardelli's, and the rest.

I sauntered into the city later on to meet them, and we cable-carred to the Top of the Mark, a very high-up cocktail lounge. The prices include the cost of transporting everything up there. After some very strong Martinis it was downhill in every sense to The Cheesecake Factory. Where else for a last supper?

Becs excitedly boards a train (we don't have them in England).

Tourist stop #1

Tourist stop #2

What a lovely place for a prison!

On the way to the rock.

You are here...and you're not going anywhere.

Getting ready to be sent down.

Lovely views.

Double roomette.

Looking back to the city.

Enjoying the ride home.

And who is this scholarly fellow, patiently waiting to meet them?

Tourist stop #3

On board, trying to catch a glimpse of Lombard Street.

Looking down from the Top of the Mark bar.

After a few of these, it feels like you're even higher up.

Another restaurant, another cocktail.

Outside dining (with big heaters above every table).

Children's portions.

A midnight snack on arriving home.
