Finally here!

After lots of form filling, exam sitting and interview attending, we finally touched down in San Francisco on Sunday night. The flight had been delayed by what the co-pilot described as a "slight hitch" (words designed to fill passengers with confidence) but we'd enjoyed that first gin and tonic, and chosen the chicken fillet over the fish pie.

Immigration was much friendlier than at the embassy in London, and much quicker than at LA International. The nice chap wished us well and gave us tips for travelling on the BART. To save money we skipped the taxi and foolishly decided to walk from the underground station to our first night's stay on the uni campus. As soon as the ground started sloping uphill we gave up and found a bus.

After that we wandered past the tree sitters and conveniently found International House and its cafe. Then it was back to our student room - ah, the memories - and fighting jet-lag for a decent night's sleep.
