The Giants win the pennant!

It's been a long wait for the San Francisco Giants to win a baseball World Series.  Technically they've never won it, because when they last did (in 1954) they were actually the New York Giants.  They didn't move to the best coast until 1957.

All that changed tonight when the Giants won the fifth game of the 2010 World Series by beating the Texas Rangers 3-1.  We caught the action in Berkeley, but last night enjoyed game four in our very own Walnut Creek.  We also had some personal interest in this:  Vince and I had watched the Texas Rangers take on the Oakland As, and with Dana and Amir we'd seen Madison Bumgarner, the 21-yr-old star pitcher last night, throw his first ever major league game thanks to Chevron tickets.  Then there was Hannah's corporate hospitality treat of last week too.

On the BART home someone was already wearing a '2010 Champions' SF Giants cap (confident manufacturers around here). Hopefully we'll get along to the victory parade in SF in a couple of days.  And then the countdown can start to a real sports contest.

The closest you can get to cricket in this country.

They're happy in the Creek!

Fear the beard!  Brian Wilson, the Giants' star closer, shuts out the Rangers.  Again.
