El Diablo está en llamas

It's wildfire season here in California, and while the one hitting the headlines is over in Yosemite (and now mostly contained) we got a nasty shock to see smoke rising over our very own Mt. Diablo this afternoon.  The north peak is burning and, as darkness fell, it looked scary over there.

There have been some evacuations but thankfully no one is in danger.  There isn't much wind and, with the fire heading uphill, the fire department is confident it'll burn itself out.  Here's hoping, as although it's miles away it's already a little close for comfort...

The fire's on the other side of the mountain and hopefully stays there.

Mt. Diablo is not a volcano.
