And relax

It was a quick transition from sparring to spa-ing, as we spent the weekend at the Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel and Spa down in the South Bay. This is exactly the sort of place that we would never come to, but Hannah picked up a night and some treatments in a charity auction a few months back. We took the BART and CalTrain, most of the other guests arrived in BMWs. However, the wonderful thing about Silicon Valley is that the scruffier you look the richer you probably are.

We were shown to our "cottage", where the wardrobe was as large are our entire apartment. It had a light that came on automatically when you opened the door, just in case you got lost inside. The rest of the lights in the room could be controlled from the telly! That was pretty much how I entertained myself for the whole weekend.

Hannah sauntered down to the spa for her treatments, and after turning all the lights on and off several times I decided to hang out by the pool. Iced water is served to you at your lounger, where you can choose to have it either lemon or cucumber infused. Thankfully you don't have to pay for that.

After much intense lounging Hannah reappeared, radiant and relaxed, and we decided to dine in "The Library", which was basically a bit of the bar that had books. It was all very tasty, and we sat among the beautiful people who, unfortunately, aren't as scruffy in the evenings.

The next morning we walked to the nearest Starbucks to have breakfast because that was, you know, a lot cheaper than in the hotel. We returned to the pool for a leisurely morning before stuffing all the towels, bathrobes and shower gel into our bags we could fit. We were picked up by the Burshteins, now South Bay-ers themselves, and Sagy looked longingly at the Ferraris, Mercs, etc. lining the car park. Lunch was half-soup and salad at a nearby deli, followed by froyo, and then we caught the CalTrain back to the Creek.

It was a wonderful foray into how the other 1% lives. But are there really people who do this a lot? Nobody we know. Yet :)

Room...

...with a view.

Now this is a mini bar!  Much easier to refill the gin with water and reseal.

Not just a cheap filter machine.

I have no ideas what these are, but they were in the room too.

Down by the pool.

Hannah in the water.

I ordered a mango smoothie - the trouble is, you can charge stuff to your room.  It's like you're not really spending money!  Unfortunately I found out how much it cost when we checked out.

Back in the room, and someone's happy.

Catching up on some reading in the library.

Lunch out, much more our style.

Someone's going to have to improve her manners before staying at a hotel like ours.
