All quiet on the western coast

It's been a slow week! This is, of course, the fault of the business school, which insists on scheduling pesky exams every now and again. "Operations" has come and gone, tonight is "macroeconomics", and hopefully after that students should reappear and fun should restart.

One thing of note is that last night we went to a discussion on Portuguese happiness at a bar. Hannah is doing a project with someone who's studying it! It was us, researcher Dana (not Israeli Dana, and not a girl), and six people from Portugal, most of whom are studying various PhD's at Berkeley.

After being the darlings of America for so long (it's the accent!) it was...um...a useful reminder to spend time with Europeans who don't have such an idealised view of the British. "Moving back home is going to be hard," Hannah observed.
