Like a rolling stone

I guess we'll have a big house in the Berkeley hills, maybe a lakeside summer cottage in Seattle, and we're definitely buying a weekend apartment in Boulder, Colorado.

Boulder is a wonderful place. It's like Berkeley's laid-back rural cousin. Perched up in the Rocky Mountains it enjoys warm clear summers and snowy winters. Thankfully we're in the warm clear bit of the year at the moment.

Attentive readers will remember that we've been here once before, when Hannah entered a case competition that involved her staying up all night. This time it's pure R'n'R, celebrating the successful end of her Chevron internship and getting a break before term starts again in a few days.

It's all about the walking! Trails head out from every corner of the town and tomorrow we'll be wending our way through pines, gullies, creeks, and hopefully to the top of a mountain (we shall see!) But why rush these things? This evening we wandered into the town centre and enjoyed the bustling, tree-lined streets, buskers, free music festival, and dinner at a rather nice brewery that we may have eaten at last time too...

The other side of the mountains.

I guess we're not in California anymore (we only have earthquakes there).

Unless you work for Chevron.

Lazy (and hot) days in Boulder Creek.

The mountains are calling. But I've put them on hold for now.

Sweltering at the festival.

I told you it was tree-lined and bustling!

Hmmm...maybe Boulder isn't as safe and friendly as it first appears...
