The stretch of road between Berkeley and SFO airport is a very interesting one, I reflected as I drove up and down it three times today. First I dropped off Dana, all ready to land an internship at Microsoft. She has an interview at their headquarters near Seattle tomorrow (good luck!) and we enjoyed a Microsoft-funded cappuccino before she departed.
Next it was time to pick up the Hammonds! After months of planning, Hannah's sister Katherine, brother-in-law Scott, and Oliver, Bethany, Jacob and Rebecca stepped off their eleven hour flight. Apparently they didn't drive the rest of the passengers completely mad, but they're all very happy to be settled into University Village. A packed program of American fun awaits them once they get over the jet-lag (what time will they wake up tomorrow morning?)
Finally Sagy and Moran are off to Israel to attend Sagy's sister's wedding. They were both excited by the prospect of good food and coffee for the next three weeks, and unfortunately seem to have taken our recent Israel-like weather with them. It turned cold and grey after they left.
So the village is a quiet place. At least until 5am tomorrow morning...
Dana, off to tell Bill Gates where he's going wrong.
I know that guy...
All the way from London, England, it's the Hammonds! Or the first bit of them, at least.
And I remember them being such quiet, shy children.
