Peace party

A few weeks ago a bench appeared down at Albany beach.  Made from reclaimed materials, brightly coloured, and with a visitors book, it of course had the e-mail address of the makers on the back.  So having sent them a quick note of thanks, I was delighted to received an invitation to their Peace Party in a local park, advertising organic vegan food and earth friendly entertainment.  In Berkeley, how can you resist?

Unfortunately it was a less-than-hippy affair, although a children's entertainer dressed up as a purple fairy did give the impression that someone might have been smoking something funny.  Hannah and I wandered around the little park, taking in the driftwood sculptures and hand-made bags for sale.  It was warm and quiet and pleasant...rather like the 60s for 99% of the people who lived through them, I suppose.

Another of Berkeley's million parks, hidden away and very nice!

Bare-foot flower children galavanted through the trees.

Reclaimed material bags, and someone with a peace pipe.

I agree.

Another reclaimed "sculpture".

Children enthralled by fairy magic!
