Outbid

We pride ourselves on offering our guests something a little different when they come to stay, and so Sheila and Mum were roped into filling seats at the Chevron table for the Contra Costa Crisis Center's annual fundraising bash.  They were very enthusiastic when we mentioned it, and went out to Ross Dress-for-Less to find some glitzy items to wear.

Bling did seem to be the theme for the event, which included a casino, a raffle for a one carat diamond, and a big auction (where the first item, a pumpkin-shaped cake, went for $1,600, and things just got more crazy from there).  This was followed by a pledge drive thing, where the auctioneer went around the dining room asking who could donate what.  Somewhat stuck their bidding paddle up and donated $25,000.  We sat firmly on our hands for the entire night.

Heading straight to the casino tables.

Hannah bets everything on 13 black.  She was stopped at the bar by someone who told her she was "strikingly perfect"!  They've obviously never witnessed her attempts at housework.

Dan Ashley, who if I had a telly I would know is famous

All dressed up.

Yay!  It's that lovely, community-focused company again!  Please go out and fill your cars with petrol.
