Tea party

Today was "Labor Day", a Bank Holiday created in 1882 as "a day off for the working citizens". Working citizens are in short supply around here, but the university gave all the students a day off too. They did do three days work last week, and the lecturers don't want them to get worn out.

To celebrate, we threw a British tea party. Britain, for some reason, seems to enjoy a large amount of affection from quite a few nationalities. Perhaps it's our world-leading cuisine. On offer today were many of Hannah's home baked goodies, including Victoria Sponge, scones (with jam and cream) and lots of Pimms and lemonade.

On the front door.

Holiday snap.

A proper English spread...with some Israeli cookies, an American cream cake and some Argentinian Dulce de Leche biscuits.

Sunset over the village. The Golden Gate Bridge made an appearance out of the fog today! Can you spot it?

This is (little) Hannah enjoying her tenth cookie.

The papers are full of hurricane Gustav at the moment and the next one, due to hit Florida on Thursday, is...Hanna! They spelt it wrong.
