The partings of the ways

The students had their final exam yesterday, and so at 12noon put all thoughts of accounting, marketing and finance behind them and looked forward to the five weeks of Christmas (recently expanded from the traditional twelve days).

And now, a day later, everyone has disappeared. Elliot and Elise are gone to San Diego, Sagy and Moran are off to Vegas with Sagy's parents, Amanda has jetted to the East Coast, Shauli is off to Israel, etc. At 5.30am this morning I took Dana and Amir to the BART station, on their way to catch a flight to Buenos Aires (as they're lending us their flat, car and TV for the month they're away it was the least I could do).

This afternoon we're going to catch a plane to Seattle, and after that jump on a train to Vancouver where, I'm reliably informed, they still have the Queen's head on bank notes. Ahhh, some civilisation before returning for Christmas.
