On the road again

It's day one of the get-Dana-and-Amir's-car-to-Seattle long weekend! Today was a short six-hour drive over the Oregon border to Klamath Falls (claim to fame: it's near Crater Lake).

After a light breakfast, due to still being full from last night's pizza, Hannah waved us off and we were quickly on the I-5 northbound. There's something both exhilarating and depressing about the GPS showing that your next turn is in 220 miles, but it does mean that it stops nagging you.

We managed to hold out from eating the delicious cakes that Daphny had sent us away with until lunchtime, and by then we were near beautiful Lake Siskiyou and Mt Shasta. Unfortunately the latter was covered in cloud, and it began to drizzle, so only a short walk was possible (it might also have something to do with the hotel we were heading for having a Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room...)

Back in the car and a few Jelly Belly beans later and we were over the border and into torrential rain, lightning, and thunder. So first impressions of Oregon: green and pleasant but a bit wet. I feel at home here!

Hannah waves us off. Can't see the tears in her eyes? That's because she spent the day here!

Behind the wheel.

There's only one place to fill up with petrol.

Lake Siskiyou.

Dana and me, even darker than the clouds behind us.

Mt Shasta, somewhere in the clouds and snow.

Emergency rations.

And now for the weather...
